Dangote Industries Limited and MTN Nigeria have once again emerged as Nigeria’s leading brands, according to the latest rankings from ‘Top 50 Brands Nigeria.’ Dangote Industries secured the top spot for the seventh consecutive year, affirming its status as the nation’s most valuable brand. This recognition was announced during a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, where the 2024 Top 50 Brands Nigeria list was unveiled.
Taiwo Oluboyede, CEO of Top 50 Brands Nigeria, highlighted the significance of Dangote’s achievement, describing the company as a powerful force driving growth and transformation across Africa. He noted that Dangote’s continued success underscores the strength and potential of Nigerian home-grown brands on the global stage.
MTN Nigeria, which ranked second overall, was also celebrated as the Most Popular Brand in the country, reflecting its strong consumer connection and widespread influence in the telecommunications sector. Globacom Nigeria, another major player in the telecom industry, secured third place, recognized for its innovative contributions to Nigeria’s digital and technological advancement.
Airtel Nigeria followed closely, ranking fourth, while Access Bank claimed the fifth position, leading the Banking & Financial Services sector. The remaining spots in the top ten were occupied by Zenith Bank Plc, Coca-Cola Nigeria, First Bank of Nigeria, BUA Group, and GTCO Plc.
Oluboyede noted that the banking and financial services sector demonstrated impressive strength, with four brands—Access Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank, and GTCO—making it into the top ten. Similarly, the telecommunications sector showcased its dominance, with MTN, Airtel, and Globacom ranking highly.
A notable feature of this year’s list is the prominence of Nigerian brands, with seven of the top ten being home-grown. This highlights the resilience and global competitiveness of Nigerian brands, many of which have expanded their reach beyond the country’s borders.
In total, Nigerian brands accounted for 24 of the 50 spots on this year’s list, while international brands held 26 positions. The stability of the rankings, with seven brands maintaining their positions from last year, reflects their enduring relevance and strong market presence in a challenging business environment.
This year’s rankings also saw the entry of two new brands—Opay Nigeria and Flutterwave—both making their debut in the Top 50. Their inclusion underscores the growing influence of fintech and digital payment platforms in shaping Nigeria’s economic landscape.
