Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and 4.7bn Tax
Julius Berger Nigeria PLC announced that it contributed N4.7 billion in taxes to the Federal Government in the first half of 2023. This was disclosed in the company’s 2023 sustainability report filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited. Additionally, the company made payments totaling N3.7 billion to providers of funds, including loan repayments, interest payments, and other financial obligations.

The report emphasized Julius Berger’s commitment to transparency and responsible corporate citizenship. The company paid N83 billion in employee wages and benefits in 2023, with retirement security payments declining by 11.9% to N2.9 billion. Gratuity payments upon employee retirement or termination totaled N762 million, a decrease of 55.4% from N1.71 billion in 2022.
Revenue for the previous year was N443.44 billion, with other income of N22.73 billion and operating costs of N346.46 billion
. Profit before tax stood at N22.06 billion. The company also invested N505 million in community development projects as part of its social responsibility initiatives.
