NGX partners with UNIMAID to enhance capital market education

The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing capital market education, fostering innovation, and supporting sustainable development in the sector.

The MoU was signed during a ceremony attended by key representatives from both institutions, including Jude Chiemeka, the Chief Executive Officer of NGX, and Mohammed Madawaki, the Director of UNIMAID’s Business School.

According to NGX, this agreement highlights a joint effort to bridge the gap between academic research and industry practice, specifically within the financial and capital markets.

The collaboration will leverage NGX’s X-Academy platform and the University of Maiduguri Business School to provide specialized courses focused on enhancing expertise in financial and capital market education.

The partnership will also involve consulting services to boost business operations in the community, as well as joint research, human resource development, and the creation of new financial and business courses.

Key elements of the MoU include promoting certification programs, entrepreneurship training, and various consulting services.

By integrating their resources and expertise, NGX and UNIMAID aim to deliver educational programs that will improve individual and business skills while encouraging increased retail participation in the capital markets.

Jude Chiemeka described the MoU as a significant milestone, stating, “This MoU marks a pivotal moment for both NGX and the University of Maiduguri.

It reflects our shared commitment to advancing education and industry practices through strategic collaboration.

By combining our expertise and resources, we are positioned to drive substantial change and contribute to a more robust financial ecosystem.”

Mohammed Madawaki expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “This collaboration with X-Academy aligns our academic strengths with NGX’s industry knowledge.

Together, we aim to promote innovation, inspire future leaders, and address the evolving needs of the financial sector.”
